At Wartburg College, faith and learning go hand in hand. Courses in the Religion and Philosophy Department constitute part of the Essential Education Plan through the faith and reflection requirement. Students are also invited to take additional courses in the Religion and Philosophy Department to explore the relation between faith and life, investigate important ethical issues and strenghen awareness of students’ own moral agency, study Christian historical and theologica traditions, and gain understanding and respect for other religious traditions.

During May Term, students may participate in field experiences in a church or other non-profit, take part in an urban immersion in Denver, Colo., or travel with faculty and students on international tours to locations in Israel, Japan, Greece, and Germany.

The Religion and Philosophy Department offers a religion major and minor, as well as minors in philosophy and peace and justice.
